President of the Avalanche Rescue Commission

Stephanie Thomas has been a mountain rescuer in Teton County, WY since 2007. She is currently an advisor with the American Avalanche Association. She also founded and ran the Teton County Search and Rescue Foundation from 2010-2023 providing backcountry education in the community and raising funds to support volunteer search and rescue members of TCSAR. She was the vice president of the Avalanche Commission from 2018-2021 when she was elected to the presidency. Stephanie believes organizing the experts in the the ICAR avalanche community to achieve long and short term goals while updating and creating recommendations is an incredible opportunity.
