Single Pilot Operations

According to the fact that most of the helicopters being used in HEMS and rescue operations are SINGLE PILOT and SINGLE PILOT IFR certified; according to the fact that a well and properly trained crew member might help the pilot in a way of increasing the flight security and diminishing the pilot workload; according to the fact that a modern equipped helicopter and a well-trained crew permit a perfectly safe operation in a Single Pilot configuration...

1. ICAR Air Rescue Commission considers valid and secure the following Single Pilot Operation: over land, day and night, for HEMS and rescue operations.
   
   

2. This recommendation does not apply to helicopters which AFM has been certified for a two man operation.
